Tacoma has its own USDA soil survey, and what it mostly maps is disturbance: roughly 60 percent of the dominant map unit is urban land, meaning fill, pavement and ground moved during construction. Thin, uneven made ground is where scalping happens, because the mower deck meets high spots the rest of the lawn does not have. Keeping the height at the upper end of the WSU range is the simplest defence.
Whatever the ground is doing, the cut is the same: 2 to 3 inches, and never more than a third of the blade at once. That is WSU guidance, not a house rule, and it is why I would rather move your day than cut a soaked lawn short.

Because there is two weeks of growth to cut. The visit takes longer and produces more clippings, so it prices higher per visit even though you get fewer visits.
Mow, edge, trim around obstacles, and blow the clippings off walkways, driveways and patios. Front, back and side yards. No add-on fee for any of that.
Bed weeding, hedge and shrub trimming, leaf cleanup and general landscaping are not part of a standard mow. Ask about them separately and I will tell you if I can do it.

A soaked lawn tears rather than cuts, and the mower ruts it. If your day is too wet I text you and move it, usually within the same week.
