Sammamish is the most consistently Alderwood town on my routes, and much of it sits on 8 to 15 percent slopes over a dense layer around 35 inches. Water moves sideways across that ground rather than down through it, so shaded and lower-lying stretches stay damp long after the rest has dried. WSU puts moss down to drainage and shade rather than anything you spray, which is exactly the combination this ground produces.
Whatever the ground is doing, the cut is the same: 2 to 3 inches, and never more than a third of the blade at once. That is WSU guidance, not a house rule, and it is why I would rather move your day than cut a soaked lawn short.
