Kent splits cleanly, and mowing splits with it. East Hill and West Hill are Alderwood, dense material around 35 inches down. The Green River valley floor is Woodinville silt loam, poorly drained and wet to within six inches of the surface in the wet season. Six inches is not much soil to carry a mower on, so valley lawns are the last on the route to be cuttable in spring.
Whatever the ground is doing, the cut is the same: 2 to 3 inches, and never more than a third of the blade at once. That is WSU guidance, not a house rule, and it is why I would rather move your day than cut a soaked lawn short.
